Hello, Lovelies! Are you quarantined fine? LOL...Crazy question I know but during this COVID-19 era we have to keep a sense of humor. With the quarantine practicing good #selfcare is essential to keeping yourself fulfilled and mentally beautiful inside.
How Do I Start A Beauty Regime?
In the morning, start by splashing your face with warm water or, if you must wash with a gentle face cleanser designed for your skin type.
Retinoids (vitamin A derivatives including retinol) can reduce dark spots, breakouts, and fine lines by increasing skin-cell turnover, but they can also be irritating, especially for sensitive skin. If you use retinoids, know that they break down in the sun, so they should only be used at night. They also make your skin extra-sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is a must.
Most people choose to skip toners, partly because there’s a lingering assumption that most toners are harsh and irritate the skin. That is not the case in most instances. Each type of toner is intended for a different skin issue, so it’s important to use the right kind for your skin concern.
Serums are super-concentrated, nutrient-dense treatments that address specific concerns, so it’s better to keep them as close to the skin as possible.
Eye cream is very important to your daily beauty regime. It's vital to apply an eye cream at least twice a day for maximum results. You should be applying eye cream as early as your twenties, something I wish I'd known when I was at that age. Improving the skin quality in this area early on ensures that the eyelid skin does not easily lose laxity and its smooth appearance later on.
Acne spot treatments differ in ingredients so check your product package when purchasing it. Some ingredients will not work for your skin and some may dry out your skin altogether. Only apply to your skin on spots that are needed. Spot treatment is not made for the entire face and not meant to be the main cleanser when you are washing your face.
I cannot tell you how important moisturizer is. I live in Texas where it gets really hot in the summer and my skin dries really bad due to the climate we have. Everyone needs a moisturizer regardless of where you live and Even though your body has its own natural lubricating system consisting of glands that secrete oil (or sebum) to maintain a protective coating against harsh outside conditions and infections, most of us do need extra hydration after the havoc that sun, weather, and harsh chemicals wreak on our skin. Most experts recommend that the best time to apply a moisturizer is while the skin is still damp, so the sooner you go through applying your serum and treatment, the sooner you’re able to lock in much-needed hydration with your moisturizer.
Listen to your skin. Everyone is unique in their own way and nobody knows your body better than you do. It's important to find out what works for you and always be kind to your skin.
